The Kingdom of God vs. the Rapture Pastor Kellough 4/7/10

The congregation was presented with a challenge by the Pastor: "What is the correct response to Christians who in their embrace of the "rapture doctrine" reject the present day reality of the "Kingdom of God?" The former teaches a defeatist attitude with the promise of being swept off of the earth to escape the impending doom brought about by the antichrist, while the latter teaches that the saints of God will be restored to the dominion lost in the Garden, and thus inherit the earth. The lack of accountability fostered by "rapturists" has inadvertantly turned the Church into a body of irresponsible managers who have abandoned their stewardship for nothing more than a false hope... a "strong delusion" as Paul put it in 2 Thess. 2:11. When challenged about their belief these "sincere" but "deluded" Christians become offended, and in some cases insulted. The sublety of this heresy is fueled by both fear and ignorance; the fear that some Pastors have of being surpassed (Spiritually) by their congregations, and the ignorance Christians have of the Bible. If people would just prayerfully read the Bible the Lord would "unveil" the beauty of His Bride so that she could be consumated unto Him and thereby bring forth fruit. Brent made an excellent comment. He said that it's not that people don't necessarily believe in the Kingdom of God, it's just that they are looking at it through a telescope. It's as though it were something far out of their reach, something not to be obtained in this lifetime. We, as Sons of God, are the rightful heirs to all that the "Last Will and Testament of Jesus Christ", the Bible, says belongs to us. We are to rule and reign in the earth, now, not in another dispensation. Of all the Scripture refernces given, this one sums up our inheritance the best is found in Dan. 7:18 which states, "But the saints of the most High shall take the kingdom, and possess the kingdom for ever, even for ever and ever."

Leviathan of the Soul (Pat Hayes 3/10/10)

The beast of Rev. 13:1 is the seven headed leviathan that plagues the soul.This "beast" rises up out of the sea, which is synonomous with the waving expanses of the unpredictable, unsurrendered soul. Pat went into detail about the names of these seven heads and what they represent. Collectively these names are the "names of blasphemy" referred to in Rev. 13:1. The first head's name is Cain. This is a representation of the soul's attempt to worship God on its own terms, or better descibed as religion. The second head names is Nimrod, which is indicative of the root of most sin, that being pride. The third head's name is Ballim. This name is a reference to the seduction of greed that would eventually corrupt a true prophet of the Lord. The fourth head is named Korah. This is a representation of rebellion and the judgment of God that can fall in the midst of vain worship. Jeroboam is the name of the fifth head. This refers to the gross idolatry that characterized Jeroboam's reign as king over the noethern tribes. The sixth head's name is Jezebel and reflects the absolute control she imposed upon her husband King Ahab. The seventh head epitomizes the culmination of the previous six. It's name is Sennacherib. His name is a representation of arrogance and the fear that this abusive spirit can instill in the hearts of those it oppresses. Our efforts to silence the vioces and influence of these "soulish" heads is futile. (See Job Ch. 41.) Our victory over this hideous monster is found in our faith in the authority of God's Word. We read of the conquest of this "seven headed dragon" in Is. 27:1 which states, ""In that day the Lord with His sore and great and strong sword shall punish leviathan the piercing serpant, even leviathan that crooked serpant; and He shall slay the dragon that is in the sea."

Susan Cabe said...: Pastor Kellough (Feb. 14th) What starts out as sincere worship towards God can turn into idolatry if the object of worship becomes our own abilities. So often what God has given us to make Him great in the earth becomes perverted by pride, and we instead wind up making ourselves great. Help us Lord to stay humble and faithful stewards of all that You've entrusted to our care.
